In response to the growing need for a Poodle rescue in this part of the country, Illinois Cocker Rescue created Poodles N Friends (PNF), a rescue for Toy & Miniature Poodles.

Poodles have charming personalities and can be mistaken for humans in curly suits. They can be quite clownish at times, but are eager to please and very willing to learn. Active, athletic, merry, very alert and intelligent, the friendly Poodle delights in life.  Their loyalty is legendary.  Highly adaptable, outgoing and good-natured, the Poodle makes a wonderful family pet!

Elegant, extremely cute and with the darkest eyes brimming with expression, this breed gives years of pleasure to those lucky enough to have one as part of the family. Poodles can be wonderful companions for children and the elderly and are good with other pets.  If you have children and other pets, chances are your Poodle will coexist peacefully with them.  They love children and will romp and play very happily with them.  Because they love human company, they make great therapy dogs. 

Poodles are a very intelligent breed.  Poodles are always listed within the top five of the most intelligent dog breeds. This breed, most specifically the Miniature, has a long history throughout the ages of performing in street shows and circuses due to the ability to learn complex tricks quickly and easily.  Poodle training is usually quite easy and rewarding for the trainer. 

People with allergies do well with Poodles.  Poodles have hair, not fur, and do not shed.  Consequently, they are a great breed for allergy sufferers and asthmatics.

Toys & Miniature Poodles are small and therefore easily transportable. Due to their size, they can be taken on family trips and can even travel in the passenger cabin on most planes.  Simply purchase a pet carrier and take them along with you to the shopping mall or to local restaurants with outdoor seating.

Toys & Miniature Poodles tend to have long life spans (15+ years) and few health problems.  Poodles tend to be relatively healthy with fewer tendencies to develop serious health problems than most other breeds of dog.

They are like humans in curly suits.  Many people mistakenly perceive the Poodle as window dressing which is far from the true nature of this breed.  There is a real dog under those curls.  This breed looks great when groomed, but it is what is on the inside of these wonderful dogs that counts.  According to a Toy Poodle breeder, “There is not a lot of dog in the Toy; they see themselves as people.  They are more in tune with humans than any other breed I know. They are just beautiful!”
